Be a Cool School at the beach OR in your schoolyard!
The Special Olympics Delaware Cool Schools Challenge is a unique team-building activity that combines fun, courage, school spirit, and community service – all for a great cause.
Steps to become a Cool School:
Form Your Team
Designate a Team Captain who will register online individually and create the team. All additional team members will register individually and join the team through the Classy platform.
Raise Your Funds
Brainstorm fun ways to collect donations to meet your team’s fundraising goal. To be an Official Bear and receive the Plunge hoodie, each team member must raise a minimum of $100.
Plan Your Plunge
Plunging virtually? Decide when, where, and how your team will be bold and get cold. Heading to Rehoboth Beach? Coordinate how everyone will get there and where you will meet.

2025 Results
Overall Results – A record 696 Bears raised a record $135,291!
Highest Funds Raised – Seaford Brrrrrr Jays ($19,287)
Highest Funds Raised Per Capita – Networks Plunging Penguins
Highest Total Number of Plungers – Team Chuck Orange Appoquinimink School District (108)
**Winners each receive a traveling trophy engraved with their school name to put on display over the next year**
